Letter from Julie,
We are ecstatic to be going into our 12th year of the Julie Foudy Soccer Camps! Due to the success of the Julie Foudy Sports Leadership Academy and my commitments to both ESPN and NBC's Summer Olympics, we will only be offering one location for the summer of 2008.
- Mission Viejo, Ca: A four day, full-day camp (9-3 pm) July 21-24th, 2008, for girls ages 8-18 yrs old.
The Julie Foudy Soccer Camps will maintain the same training philosophy as years past. The camp's daily training schedule will remain the same, offering campers a full-day experience (9am-3pm). These camps are designed to expose girls, ages 8-18, to various components of the game, while offering the unique opportunity to learn from some of the most talented women ever to play (please refer to Staff page to view our amazing staff from last year!). My staff and I look forward to sharing more summer days with campers who are eager to take their game to another level. More importantly, our mission at the Julie Foudy Soccer Camps is to provide great role models for the campers and to assist them with the development of skills they can use both on and off the playing field.
The expansion to three sites with The Julie Foudy Sports Leadership Academy (JFSLA) was very well received last summer! The positive feedback from so many students and parents has been wonderful to read as this has been a dream of ours for many years. The JFSLA is a residential camp focused on both soccer and leadership, for girls ages 12-18. Having been a Captain of the USA Women's Soccer team for 13 of my 17 years on the team, I truly believe that sports and leadership go hand in hand. This will be a six day/five night high energy experience, focusing on the key ingredients it takes to be a leader on the field AND a leader in life! Students will have the opportunity to train with some of the best women soccer players in the world and learn leadership skills they will cultivate for life. Just a few of the leadership concepts that will be presented are:
- how to develop the confidence to lead
- how to be a positive leader on your team
- the various styles of leadership
- how to be a leader in your own community
Lastly, our mission is to encourage girls not just to hear, not just to see, but to ACTUALLY DO! As I learned while playing for the US Women’s National Team, and as you experienced with our day camps... LOVE what you do! Laughter permitted.
